Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival & Chinese Hat Islet
Day 2 : Isabela Island (vicente Roca Point) & Fernandina Island (espinosa Point)
Isabela Island, the largest in the Galápagos, was formed by six volcanic eruptions merging into a single landmass. The island is home to a unique ecosystem, including pink iguanas and the largest population of giant tortoises.
Vicente Roca Point boasts dramatic rock formations and abundant marine life. Birdwatchers can spot blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, storm petrels, and more. Thanks to the nutrient-rich Cromwell Current, visitors may witness feeding frenzies of marine creatures, including whales, dolphins, and sea lions.
Fernandina Island remains one of the most untouched ecosystems, free of invasive species. Dominated by La Cumbre volcano, it features vast lava fields and provides a habitat for Galápagos penguins and flightless cormorants.
Day 3 : Isabela Island (tagus Cove & Urbina Bay)
Tagus Cove, located on the island’s western side, was historically used by pirates and sailors, who left inscriptions on volcanic rock. A scenic hike leads to
Darwin Lake, a saltwater crater lake formed by volcanic activity.
Urbina Bay, further south, showcases geological uplift, revealing exposed coral reefs. It is a prime spot for observing giant tortoises, land iguanas, and flightless cormorants.
Day 4 : Isabela Island (elizabeth Bay & Moreno Point)
Elizabeth Bay features a network of islets, mangroves, and a lagoon teeming with marine life. It is a haven for sea turtles and a variety of bird species.
Moreno Point, located on Isabela’s southwestern coast, is characterized by black lava formations and endemic wildlife. Activities include hiking, panga rides for birdwatching, and snorkeling among vibrant marine species.
Day 5 : Santa Cruz Island (charles Darwin Station & Highlands)
Santa Cruz Island, one of the most populated islands, hosts conservation projects aimed at preserving native species.
The Charles Darwin Research Station is dedicated to wildlife conservation and scientific research. Visitors can learn about the Galápagos Giant Tortoise breeding program and ongoing efforts to protect endemic species.
The highlands feature lush vegetation, volcanic formations, and diverse wildlife, including Darwin’s finches and giant tortoises. Lava tunnels offer a surreal underground experience.
Day 6 : South Plaza Island & Departure
South Plaza Island is known for its vibrant red and green sesuvium vegetation and diverse wildlife, including land iguanas and sea lions.
San Cristóbal Island, the easternmost island, was Darwin’s first landing site in 1835. Today, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno serves as the capital of the Galápagos. Conservation efforts focus on managing invasive species such as blackberries and blackflies.
La Galapaguera Interpretation Center provides insights into the archipelago’s ecosystem, geology, and history. It also houses a Giant Tortoise conservation program.
