Itinerary
Day 1 : San Cristobal Island: Breeding Center
Day 2 : Santa Fe Island & Plazas Island
Santa Fe Island welcomes you with a picturesque bay and two hiking trails—one leading to breathtaking cliffs and another through a prickly pear cactus forest. This island is home to land iguanas, sea lions, and diverse birdlife. Later, Plazas Island offers dramatic landscapes with rising lava formations and a large sea lion colony. Depending on the season, its vegetation shifts from green to vivid red, creating a striking contrast against the blue ocean.
Day 3 : Santa Cruz Island: Charles Darwin Station & Twin Craters
At the Charles Darwin Research Station, learn about conservation programs and see giant tortoises up close. The breeding program ensures the survival of various tortoise species before their release into the wild. Later, visit the Twin Craters (“Los Gemelos”), two massive sinkholes formed by collapsed volcanic chambers. Surrounded by lush Scalesia forests, this area is a prime spot for birdwatching, with Darwin’s finches and vermilion flycatchers commonly spotted.
Day 4 : Isabela Island: Sierra Negra Volcano & The Wetlands
Hike to the summit of Sierra Negra, one of the largest volcanic calderas in the world, for breathtaking views of Isabela Island. This area is rich in wildlife, including finches and endemic plants. In the afternoon, explore the Wetlands, a maze of lagoons, mangroves, and swamps teeming with shorebirds such as flamingos, stilts, and pintails. The scenic landscapes and biodiversity make this a must-visit location.
Day 5 : Isabela Island: Moreno Point & Tagus Cove
At Moreno Point, walk across rugged lava fields leading to crystal-clear tidal pools filled with flamingos, pintail ducks, and marine iguanas. Snorkeling here reveals an underwater world of sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, and colorful fish. Later, at Tagus Cove, follow trails once used by pirates and whalers. Enjoy stunning views of Darwin Lake, a saltwater lagoon surrounded by volcanic cliffs, and spot flightless cormorants and Galapagos penguins.
Day 6 : Fernandina Island: Espinoza Point & Isabela Island: Vicente Roca Point
Fernandina Island, the youngest and most pristine island in the Galapagos, offers an unspoiled ecosystem. At Espinoza Point, witness colonies of marine iguanas, flightless cormorants, and Galapagos hawks against a backdrop of lava flows. In the afternoon, explore Vicente Roca Point, where two sheltered coves provide excellent snorkeling opportunities. Encounter sunfish, rays, sea turtles, and seahorses in these nutrient-rich waters.
Day 7 : Santiago Island: Espumilla Beach & Bartolome Island
Espumilla Beach is a stunning stretch of golden sand, popular among sea turtles and Sally Lightfoot crabs. Snorkeling here reveals an abundance of marine life, including reef sharks and moray eels. Later, visit Bartolome Island, home to the iconic Pinnacle Rock. Hike up an extinct volcano for one of the most famous panoramic views in the Galapagos, then snorkel alongside Galapagos penguins and colorful fish.
Day 8 : North Seymour Island & Departure
North Seymour Island is a wildlife haven, home to blue-footed boobies, magnificent frigatebirds, land iguanas, and sea lions. This island was formed by tectonic uplift, creating an arid landscape with palo santo trees and opuntia cacti. After exploring this remarkable island, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to the mainland.
