Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival & Mosquera Islet
Day 2 : Santiago Island – Egas Port & Rabida Island
Start your day at Egas Port, a black volcanic sand beach visited by Charles Darwin in 1835. This area is rich in marine wildlife, including fur seals swimming in tidal pools and marine iguanas grazing on algae-covered rocks. Later, visit Rabida Island, famous for its striking red sand beaches. The island is home to a large colony of sea lions and a saltwater lagoon where flamingos can often be seen. Snorkeling here offers encounters with vibrant marine life, including colorful fish and playful sea lions.
Day 3 : Isabela Island – Urbina Bay & Tagus Cove
Explore Urbina Bay, where seismic activity has uplifted the land, creating a unique landscape. Here, you can spot giant tortoises, land iguanas, and the rare flightless cormorant. Snorkeling offers the chance to swim alongside sea turtles and tropical fish. In the afternoon, visit Tagus Cove, historically a hideout for pirates. A hike leads to a scenic viewpoint over Darwin’s Crater Lake, followed by a dinghy ride along the rocky shoreline to see blue-footed boobies, penguins, and marine iguanas.
Day 4 : Fernandina Island – Espinoza Point & Vicente Roca Point
Visit Espinoza Point on Fernandina Island, one of the most untouched ecosystems in the world. The landscape is dominated by lava fields, home to the largest marine iguanas in the archipelago. Here, you may also encounter flightless cormorants, Galapagos penguins, and the majestic Galapagos hawk. Later, head to Vicente Roca Point on Isabela Island, an incredible site for deep-water snorkeling. The nutrient-rich waters attract an abundance of marine life, including sea turtles, rays, and tropical fish.
Day 5 : Santa Cruz Highlands & Departure
On your final day, visit the highlands of Santa Cruz, where dense forests contrast with the coastal landscapes. This region is home to giant tortoises, which can often be seen roaming through the fields. Birdwatchers will enjoy spotting Darwin’s finches, vermillion flycatchers, and yellow warblers. After this immersive experience, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight back to the mainland.
