Galapagos Islands Travel is an independent editorial travel guide for the Galápagos Islands, maintained by Voyagers Travel Company, a US-based travel agency with over 20 years of Galápagos booking experience. Content is authored by certified naturalist guides, travel journalists, DMC field experts, and travel specialists across the industry.
This is a travel guide built by people who have spent two decades booking Galápagos trips and watching travelers come back changed. Twenty years of phone calls, itinerary revisions, post-trip emails, and conversations with naturalists who know which beach has sea lions in September and which one does not. That work taught us what travelers actually need to know before they fly south, and how rarely the open web gives it to them straight.
This site exists because the honest information, real numbers, real seasonal caveats, real trade-offs between vessels and itineraries, was scattered across marketing brochures and affiliate sites that had something to sell. Voyagers Travel Company built it. We are a US travel agency that has been sending travelers to the Galápagos since the early 2000s, and we wanted a place where the facts could live without being shaped to fit a sale.
An independent editorial guide. Not a booking site. Not a marketing vehicle for a single operator. The goal is straightforward: give every traveler, whether they book with Voyagers or not, the clearest, most accurate picture of what Galápagos travel actually involves.
Three editorial guardians govern everything published here:
Guardian of Truth: every fact must be traceable to a verifiable source. No guessing, no rounded marketing claims, no numbers without a citation behind them.
Guardian of Content: shorter beats longer. No padding, no filler, no sentences written to fill space. If a paragraph does not earn its place, it gets cut.
Guardian of Design: understandable at a glance. A traveler should be able to scan a page and walk away with the right picture, even if they never read every word.
Voyagers is a US-based travel agency founded in 2002, specializing in South America, Galápagos, Ecuador, Peru, the Amazon, Antarctica, and Patagonia. Over 20 years the company has built working relationships with operators, naturalists, DMCs, and travel specialists across the region. Galapagos Islands Travel draws on that network as an editorial resource, not as a sales channel.

This includes SCAPE Magazine interviewees such as Octavio Chauca (Ocean Spray), Andres Paez (Hermes / Via Natura), Luisa Córdova and Ivonne Zumarraga (Golden Galapagos), and others whose field knowledge has shaped the content here.
The site welcomes contributions from travel agents, tour operators, and DMCs. Editorial independence is the point. No single operator owns this platform, and no single voice gets the last word.

Voyagers works with several DMC partners across Ecuador and South America. Industry partners are routed through Voyagers, not to any single DMC, so the right operator gets matched to the right itinerary.
Galapagos Islands Travel draws editorial expertise from a network of established Galápagos operators. These are independent businesses, not Voyagers subsidiaries. Their field knowledge, operational data, and expert voices contribute to the accuracy of this guide.
The network includes Galapagos Cruise Company (Stephen Sancho), Hermes Catamaran, Ocean Spray, Golden Galapagos, and other operators in the SCAPE Magazine interview network. Latin Trails is one of the DMC partners Voyagers works with in Ecuador, contributing operational perspective through field contributor Marcel Perkins. None of these operators owns the platform or directs the editorial line.
Operating responsibly in the Galápagos is not a marketing position, it is a license to work. Every vessel, guide, and agency on this site is expected to comply with Galápagos National Park Service (GNPS) rules, naturalist guide ratios, visitor site quotas, landing schedules, and biosecurity protocols. The transit control card every traveler pays at the airport channels funds directly into park management and conservation work in the islands.
Operator-led conservation matters too. The Hermes Endemic Reforestation Program is one example: a vessel-funded effort replanting endemic species in the highlands of Santa Cruz, paid for by guest fees and reinvested into the ecosystem the same guests come to see. Stories like that get covered on this site because they are how the islands stay viable for the next generation of travelers.
"The Galápagos doesn't need advocates. It needs people who tell the truth about it and let the islands speak for themselves."
Juan Magallanes, naturalist expert contributor
